Child Hospitalized After Sled Hits Parker Car In Rochester Hills

Police said a man was towing the 9-year-old boy behind his Jeep when the sled the boy was on hit a parked car.

ROCHESTER HILLS, MI — A 9-year-old St. Clair Shores boy is in critical condition after crashing his sled into a parked vehicle in Rochester Hills Sunday, according to the Oakland County Sheriff's Office.

A 37-year-old Royal Oak man was visiting family in Rochester Hills and was towing his 9-year-old son on a plastic sled on Somerville Road when the boy hit the back of a parked Ford Fusion, deputies said.

The child was taken to Royal Oak Beaumont Hospital before being air-lifted to the Children's Hospital in Detroit and being listed in critical condition, deputies said.

Deputies said alcohol does not appear to be a factor in the incident, but the sheriff's office is continuing to investigate.
