Honk! Peanut Gallery Players Celebrates Being Different at Meadow Brook

Peanut Gallery Players, a 501(c)(3) non-profit training program for children ages 6-18 will present the musical “HONK!” at Meadow Brook Theatre on August 2,3 and 4, 2012.

Performed by 70 student actors, ages 6-18 from Oakland and Macomb Counties, HONK! is a musical adaptation of the classic Hans Christian Anderson story “The Ugly Duckling”. Written by George Stiles and Anthony Drewe, this Olivier Award winner (Britain’s equivalent of Broadway’s Tony Award) tells the tale of Ugly (Henry Cleaveland, Rochester) whose odd and gawky looks incite prejudice from his family and neighbors. Lured away from the farm by a hungry cat (Evan Slon, Beverly Hills), as his mother Ida (AlissaBeth Morton, Rochester) searches to find him, Ugly must find his own way home. Along his rollicking and harrowing journey, he discovers his true destiny and the joy of being different. Comical and heart-warming, this musical will appeal to both children and adults, who will appreciate not only its timeless theme of love and acceptance, but also its witty and tuneful score.

All performances are held at Meadow Brook Theatre on the campus of Oakland University. Performance times are Thursday, August 2 @7:30pm, Friday, August 3 @7:30pm and Saturday, August 4 @2:00pm. Ticket prices are $12.00 for students/seniors and $15.00 for adults.
