Hear A Story Of Hope And Courage At Rochester Hills Library

ROCHESTER HILLS, MI — On Thursday, Jan. 10, be sure to stop by the Rochester Hills Public Library to hear Author Megan Koreman share a story of courage, persistence and near catastrophes in the lecture, Escape from the Nazis: the Dutch-Paris Escape Line.

Detailed in Koreman’s book The Escape Line, over 300 men and woman who belonged to the Dutch-Paris resistance network hid 1,500 Jewish people in occupied France and Belgium and took another 1,500 refugees and resisters out of occupied territory to safety in Switzerland or Spain. This clandestine courier service for the resistance helped save thousands of innocent lives during WWII, and now Koreman will bring their story to the RHPL to share with our patrons.

“The Dutch-Paris escape line is one of the great Allied feats of WWII,” said Koreman. “Their story is important and I’m very dedicated to sharing the trials and tribulations of these men and women with others in order to honor their legacy.”

“We believe in sharing incredible true stories with our patrons at the RHPL. In this case, the story of so many unsung heroes who put their freedom on the line to try and resist the totalitarian dictatorship of Nazi-occupied France. We’re very excited for Megan Koreman to come and share a small piece of their impact with us,” said Community Relations Specialist Amanda Harrison Keighley.

The program is Jan. 10 from 7-8:30 p.m. in the Multipurpose Room and is open to everyone with an RHPL library card. This program is geared toward adults but all ages are welcome. Please register in advance at rhpl.org.
