The National Trust for Historic Preservation announced Sunday that Rochester was chosen as a 2013 Great American Main Street Awards winner.

With the distinction, Rochester is recognized as a national leader in embracing sound historic preservation practices and building strategic partnerships.
And many of it's residents couldn't be happier, including Carol Van Sickle who posted a proud comment on Rochester Patch.

"Congratulations Rochester. Having grown up there and going all through the school system, Rochester was always a special town and out shown all the surrounding communities. I always felt a special pride in saying I was from Rochester, even looking back to when it was a village and there was still an Avon Township."
Many others had great things to say about the town as well, including Lance J Richards.
"Congrats to everyone involved. When we first moved here in 2003, it only took one drive down Main Street to know that this is the area we wanted to live in. (Unfortunately, now the secret is out.)"
