Deputies pose as Rochester Hills homeowner to set up sting meeting with suspects.
ROCHESTER HILLS, MI — A pair of Oakland County men are in jail after purchasing iPhones with a stolen credit card from a Rochester Hills woman. Sheriff’s deputies arrested an Oak Park man and a Southfield man, both 18, Monday after a sting operation.
Deputies made contact with the victim at a Rochester Road Sprint Store shortly before 6 p.m. Monday. She told deputies she tried return two iPhone 7s that had been delivered to her home at the store, but was informed by a clerk that the phones had been purchased with a fraudulent credit card under her name.
Reports said deputies were told a neighbor of the victim had been approached by the men, claiming they had a package delivered to the wrong address. They asked that they be contacted when the package arrived at the Rochester Hills’ woman’s home.

The neighbor obtained a phone number from one of the suspects, reports said. Deputies called the number pretending to be the homeowner and arranged a meeting with the suspects under the guise of delivering the phones to them.
