Whether it's you or your son or daughter looking to ride, Steve Robertson from Rochester's South Street Skateshop wants to make sure you choose the right skateboard.

According to Robertson, it's important to get a board that feels right, including the right width and curve.

Other things to consider, according to Robertson:

• The bushings on the skateboard's trucks can affect one's ability to turn and control their board. 
• Finding the best bearings doesn't always come down to cost; Most skaters can get by spending less than $20, rather than dropping upwards of $100 for a set. 
• Wheels can vary in price and purpose. Some are better for old-school riders and some harder wheels provide long-lasting durability.
