ROCHESTER HILLS, MI — A 21-year-old Troy man is facing charges after a reported drunk driving crash that took the life of one man and injured another in Rochester Hills over the weekend. Alexander Munch was reportedly driving the car of three men, believed to be coworkers at a restaurant, when the 1988 Dodge Daytona crashed into a utility pole near South Boulevard and Fredmoore Drive. Much is charged with one count of operating while intoxicated causing death, a 15 year felony, and one count of operating while intoxicated causing injury, a 5-year felony.
Troy resident Talon Dawson, 21, died in the crash. The backseat passenger is still hospitalized with serious injuries, according to authorities.
Munch was arraigned in a Rochester Hills court and given a $50,000 cash bond with conditions of no alcohol use with daily testing, no driving, and he must have a GPS tether. He’s also reportedly on house arrest. Munch will return to court for a probable cause conference on June 28. The crash remains under investigation.
