Man Drowns Trying To Clean Clinton River
A 24-year-old man is dead after trying to clean debris and garbage from the Clinton River Monday.

PONTIAC, MI — A 24-year-old Pontiac man drowned near the Dawson Mill Pond Dam located in Beaudette Park in Pontiac Monday. He was reportedly cleaning the Clinton River just downriver of the dam, trying to retrieve lures and garbage from the water, according to police.
A witness said a short while after going into the water he began to yell for help. The witness told police he was unable to get to him because of how strong the current was and tried to reach the man with a stick but was unsuccessful.
Star EMS, the Oakland County Sheriff’s Office Dive Team and the Waterford Regional Fire Department responded to assist the man. Firefighters entered and searched the water and were able to locate and retrieve the victim’s body, they said. The victim was later transported to McLaren E.R. where he was pronounced at 2:50 p.m.
