Ex-Detroit Weatherman Gets Jail For Child Porn
A former Detroit television meteorologist will serve three years in prison after pleading guilty to second-degree possession of child pornography. Justin Goldstein, a WJBK TV (Channel 2) weather forecaster until 2009, will do time in a Connecticut state prison. He negotiated a plea deal in March.

The House of Representatives, by the slimmest of margins, passed a health care bill on May 4 that would repeal and replace major parts of the Affordable Care Act. The final tally was 217-213, including a 9-5 vote in favor of the bill by Michigan representatives. Unsurprisingly, the Michigan vote went straight down party lines with Republicans saying “yes” and Democrats saying “no.”
Move Teachers To 401(k) Plan: Republicans
New Michigan teachers could wind up with a 401(k)-style retirement plan if state Republicans make good on proposals circulating around Lansing that aim to trim $29 billion in growing unfunded liabilities. Current teachers fall into two groups: a traditional pension for employees hired prior to 2010 and a hybrid plan for those hired after.
Royal Oak High School Writer Honored
Royal Oak High School Junior Hannah Lefave received third place in the short story category of The Holocaust Memorial Center Zekelman Family Campus first annual Kappy Family Anne Frank Art & Writing Competition. The competition was open to Oakland County students in grades eight through 12. Students were invited to create a written or artistic response to the following quotation of Anne Frank’s: “How wonderful it is that no one need wait a single moment before starting to improve the world.”
