Arrest Made In 2014 Hit-And-Run Case In Oakland County

OAKLAND COUNTY, MI — After years of investigating, the Oakland County Sheriff's Office has arrested a 53-year-old Lapeer man they believe was behind a serious hit-and-run accident that happened in Oakland Township in 2014, police said.

Brent Jospeh Addelia has been charged with one felony county of leaving the scene of a serious injury accident. Police said that two teenagers were on bicycles in September of 2014 when they were hit by a grey SUV that fled the scene.

Several witnesses reportedly saw the event and investigators retrieved pieces of the SUV — including a fog lamp — to help track down a suspect.

The investigation finally led to the arrest of Addelia on Jan. 21, 2020, police said. He's currently being held at the Oakland County Jail on a $75,000 cash surety bond.

Police said that the teenager who suffered extensive injuries is now 23 and has fully recovered from the accident.
