Rochester Named The Best Place To Raise A Family In Michigan

ROCHESTER, MI — It's not just the locals that consider Rochester a nice place to raise a family. Researchers feel the same way. A new study by WalletHub ranks Rochester the number one place in the state to raise a family.

Researchers rated the 104 most populous Michigan communities on four huge components: family life and fun (e.g. number of playgrounds and average commute time), education/health/safety (air quality, violent crime per capita), affordability (housing and general affordability) and socioeconomics (e.g. separation and divorce rate, wealth gap).

Based on the data, Rochester's number one score in education/health/safety and high scores in both affordability and socioeconomics propelled it to the top family-friendly spot in the state, beating out 103 other communities.

Other Oakland County communities that landed in the top 20 best places to raise a family in Michigan include Troy at #7, Birmingham at #9, Royal Oak at #16 and Rochester Hills at #18.
