Rochester Police Bust 4-Time Drunken Driver on New Suspicions

ROCHESTER, MI — Rochester Police busted a suspected intoxicated driver who has four prior arrests on his record for operating a vehicle while intoxicated, according to a police report.
The incident happened on Jan. 16 at 1:00 a.m. A Rochester officer was patrolling the area of Main and Second when he spotted a white SUV run a red light. The officer conducted a traffic stop and noticed signs the driver, a 44-year-old Rochester man, had been drinking alcohol. The man failed field sobriety tests and provided a PBT sample of .205% BAC.
Police took the driver to the Rochester Police Department, and while checking his driving record, officers discovered he had been convicted of operating while intoxicated four times prior to this arrest. He also had a revoked and denied license. Charges are pending for the felony operating while intoxicated 3rd or subsequent offense and police released the driver when he was sober.

- Jan. 15 at 3:30 a.m.: A Rochester officer was on patrol in the area of Main and Romeo an observed a gray Infinity cross the double yellow divider and the lane divider several times. The officer completed a traffic stop in that area and made contact with the driver, a 38-year-old Bellville woman. The officer noticed signs that the driver had been drinking and put her through field sobriety testing, the woman failed the offered tests and was arrested for operating while intoxicated. A subsequent search of the car revealed a pistol in the center console. The driver had a valid CPL, but was intoxicated and failed to disclose that she was in possession of the gun when she spoke with the officer. She was transported back to the Rochester Policed Department where she agreed to a breath test with results of .08% BAC. She was released when sober and will e charged with operating while intoxicated, failing to disclose a concealed pistol and carrying a concealed pistol while intoxicated.

- Jan. 16 at 11:23 a.m.: A Rochester officer was dispatched to the 52000 block of Dequindre to the report of a larceny from a vehicle. The complainant claimed that he had possibly left his vehicle unlocked and that someone had taken his wallet while the car was unattended. The complainant also noted that his credit card had been used at a local gas station. Officers were in the process of obtaining the video from the gas station to develop a suspect. The case remains under investigation.
- Jan. 20 at 6:00 p.m.: A Rochester officer was dispatched to the 900 block of Fairview to the report of an identity theft. The victim claimed that an unknown person had opened a credit card using their information and made several online purchases. The case is under investigation.
- Jan. 22 at 8:00 p.m.: A worker in the area of 543 Main St reported that a storage container located inside of a garage had been broken into by an unknown suspect. The officers arrived and noted several items of physical evidence and were in the process of obtaining video from the area. It did not appear that anything was missing from the container, only damage. The case is under investigation.
