Rochester Police Nab Suspected Drunk Driver: Weekly Rochester Crime Report

Rochester police pulled over a 22-year-old Deckerville man suspected of drunk driving in the area of Second and Walnut.

ROCHESTER, MI — Rochester police nabbed a suspected drunk driver in the area of Second and Walnut, according to a press release.

The incident happened on Jan. 7 at 2:30 a.m. A Rochester officer was on patrol when he saw a vehicle disobey a stop sign, then go 40 mph in a 25 mph zone. The officer initiated a traffic stop and noticed signs the driver, a 22-year-old Deckerville man, had been drinking. The man failed several field sobriety tests and his breath test results came in at .16% BAC. He was taken to the Rochester Police department, issued a misdemeanor citation and released when sober.

-Jan. 6 at 3:00 p.m.: A Rochester officer was dispatched to the 800 block of Logger’s Circle for a larceny from auto report. The caller claimed that some cash and a GPS system were stolen from the vehicle that was determined to be left unlocked. The case is under investigation, the Rochester Police would like to remind everyone again to keep their vehicles locked in order to prevent thefts.

-Jan. 8 at 2:00 a.m.: A Rochester officer was on patrol in the area of Great Oaks and University, the officer observed a vehicle traveling over the posted 25 mph speed limit and observed the radar unit read over 40 mph. The officer completed a traffic stop and spoke with the driver, a 25 year old Pontiac man. The officer noticed signs that the driver had been drinking and put him through field sobriety testing. The man failed the offered tests and was taken back to the Rochester Police Department where he submitted a breath test with results of .16% BAC. The man was issued a misdemeanor citation and was released when sober.
