Rochester Swimmers Earn Scholarships

Haley Ludwig and Brien Moffitt earn $1,000 awards.

Two Rochester swimmers have received scholarships for their leadership and team skills.

Haley Ludwig, who will be attending Michigan State University, and Brien Moffitt, who will attend Grand Valley State University, each received $1,000 as the scholarship's inaugural recipients.

The scholarships, given to students who earned a varsity letter in swimming and demonstrate citizenship, team commitment and leadership, were awarded by coach Paul Karas. Mike Karas, Paul Karas' brother who swam on Rochester High School's first swim team in 1967, started the scholarship and hopes it will become an annual award.
