Deputies Find Body Believed To Be Suspect In Stabbing Death

Deputies found the body of what is believed to be the suspect in the Village of Holly Tuesday morning.

(UPDATED) OAKLAND COUNTY, MI — A body found Tuesday morning on railroad tracks in Holly is believed to be that of a 15-year-old boy sought by police in connection with the slaying of his grandmother. Steven Kelvin Wilkerson was named by the Oakland County Sheriff’s Office as the suspect in the stabbing death of his 65-year-old Springfield Township grandmother.

“Detectives have also located a body, believed to be the suspect, on the railroad tracks in the Village of Holly,” Oakland County Undersheriff Michael McCabe said in a news release. “It is obvious the body was struck by a passing train.”

The victim’s name has not been released by authorities. Her vehicle, a 2006 Pontiac, was also found in Holly.

A relative found the victim’s body in her Sleepy Hollow Boulevard home before 6 a.m. Tuesday. The suspected murder weapon, a large kitchen knife, was recovered by deputies at the scene, according to the Sheriff’s office.

The sheriff’s office is continuing to investigate and is also working the Holly Police Department and CN Railroad Police on the case.
