11 Mile Road Construction Nears Finish Line

The orange barrels, which went up in April, have all been removed.

Some minor clean-up may remain after, but all lanes of 11 Mile Road are open.

It's been a long road, so to speak, but we're nearly at the end of the $1.9 million makeover.

The project, which was scheduled to be completed on Nov. 8 has suffered many setbacks, according to City Engineer Matt Callahan.

On Oct. 31, Callahan told Patch a punch list of "to-do" items, which is pages and pages long, is supposed to be complete by Nov. 15.

Let there be light

"We have a little bit of work to do around the Gainsborough intersection where a new signal is being installed," said Nikki Jeffries, of Giffels-Webster Engineers , Inc.

Jeffries said concrete crews will be back Friday and Saturday to do some miscellaneous work.

There is also some landscaping work and a few steps that need to be installed, she said.

"I am sure you want to know about the lights. Everybody asks about the lights," Jeffries said.

The north side of 11 Mile Road should be lit in the next day or so, she said. DTE Engery has a bit of work to do on the south side, but those lights should come on sometime next week, Jeffries said.
