Man Police Say Is Serial Bank Robber Arraigned in Federal Court
Authorities say a 49-year-old Madison Heights man robbed several area banks, including four in Royal Oak, since December.
Derrick Dwayne Sebree, a 49-year-old Madison Heights man, was arraigned Thursday in Federal Court on charges related to Wednesday's bank robbery in Royal Oak and seven others.
Sebree faces eight charges of bank robbery each carrying a 20-year maximum sentence under federal law. U.S. District Court Magistrate Judge Laurie Michelson ordered him held, pending a detention hearing scheduled for today at 1 p.m., according to Royal Oak Police.
Police said Sebree robbed the TCF Bank located at 1811 Crooks at about 12:41 p.m. Wednesday, which led to a . The pursuit ended with an arrest on 11 Mile Road west of Greenfield when the man's vehicle struck a Southfield patrol car.

Additional robberies since Dec. 20, include a PNC Bank, Charter One and Citizens Bank in Royal Oak and four others.
Oakland County records show Sebree has a criminal history and served jail time in 2008.
