Overturned Semi Truck Closes I-696 In Oakland County: Police

A semi truck flipped on its side and spilled oil on eastbound Interstate 696 in Madison Heights on Tuesday,​ police said.

MADISON HEIGHTS, MI — A semi truck flipped on its side and spilled oil on eastbound Interstate 696 in Madison Heights on Tuesday, according to Michigan State Police.

The crash closed all eastbound lanes on Interstate 696 at Dequindre Road as crews worked to lift the semi truck and clean up the oil spill, police said.

The driver of the semi truck was injured in the crash, but expected to be ok, police said.

No other vehicles were involved in the crash and there were no other injuries, police said.

State troopers said the semi truck flipped on its side when rounding a corner on the freeway near Dequindre Road. The semi truck was lying on the freeway, blocking three lanes, police said.
