Daylight Saving Time Ends Sunday

Don't forget to set your clock back an hour before going to bed Saturday night.

It’s time to “fall back,” Michigan. It’s time to get back that hour of sleep you lost in March. Daylight Savings Time official ends at 2 a.m. Sunday, meaning you should set your clocks back an hour before going to bed Saturday night.

Daylight Saving Time will not resume until at 2 a.m. March 11. 2018.

Congress approved the Energy Policy Act of 2005, which extended Daylight Saving Time by four weeks from the second Sunday in March to the first Sunday of November. In years when April 1 falls on Monday through Wednesday, Daylight Saving Time is actually five weeks longer.

The practice of “springing forward” and “falling back” began during World War 1 as a means of conserving energy. Daylight Saving Times was then used sporadically until Congress passed the Uniform Time Act of 1966. It established the last Sunday in April as the start of Daylight Saving Time and the last Sunday in October as the end.
