Detroit Men Charged With Wheel, Tire Thefts In Royal Oak

A pair of Detroit men are facing multiple felony counts in connection with alleged thefts in Royal Oak.

ROYAL OAK, MI — A pair of Detroit men were arraigned Thursday on multiple felony charges in connection with the theft of wheels and tires in Royal Oak. Deshawn Shelton Gardner and Jeffrey Lamont Miller were given $75,000 and $50,000 cash bonds, respectively, by 44th District Court Judge Derek Meinecke.

Gardner and Miller are accused of stealing wheels and tires in the 500 block of S. Wilson and 1900 block of Brockton of Royal Oak, according to a police report. Gardner and Miller were arrested by Royal Oak Police following an ongoing investigation by a task force with the Michigan State Police.

Gardner is charged with receiving and concealing stolen motor vehicle parts, a felony which carries a penalty of up to 10 years in prison. He was also charged with two counts of larceny from a motor vehicle, a felony which carries a penalty of up to 5 years in prison, Royal Oak Police said.

Gardner has a long criminal history, police said in a news release. It includes convictions for larceny from a motor vehicle, unlawful driving away an automobile, receiving and concealing a stolen motor Vehicle, among others.

Miller is charged with two counts of larceny from a motor vehicle, a felony which carries a penalty of up to 5 years in prison, Royal Oak Police said. His criminal history includes convictions for attempted receiving and concealing stolen property, receiving and concealing a stolen motor vehicle, and attempted larceny from a motor vehicle, among others, according to police.

Gardner and Miller will be in court on Sept. 7.
