Ferndale High, Middle School Close After Online Threat: Officials
Ferndale High School and Ferndale Middle School closed Monday after someone threatened to shoot up the school, school officials said.
FERNDALE, MI — Ferndale High School and Ferndale Middle School closed Monday after someone threatened to shoot up the school, according to school officials.
The anonymous threat was posted to Instagram and had a "hit list" with Ferndale High School student names, school officials said.
"Out of an abundance of caution and to allow the Ferndale Police Department time to fully investigate, we will be closing Ferndale High School and Ferndale Middle School tomorrow, Monday, Nov. 14th," Ferndale Superintendent Bobbie Goodrum said in a statement to parents.

The closure is to allow police to thoroughly investigate the threat to determine if it's credible, officials said. Classes were expected to resume Tuesday.
The district's high school, middle school and administrative offices are all located in the same building.
