Gilda's Club Members Get Special Treatment at Wellness Retreat

Club members choose from five workshops at day of wellness and pampering.

Gilda's Club Metro Detroit members got special treatment today thanks to the Jill Hooberman's Spa Day Fund.

Club members were treated to skin care treatments from Joan Haddock of Sephora and paraffin hand dips from the Michigan College of Beauty.

Members could also attend yoga, gong meditation and memoir writing workshops.

"Jill used to be a member here at Gilda’s and she loved spa treatments. After she passed away, her family set up this Spa Day Fund for our members so we could hold events like this," said Shahin Ip, program manager.

Gilda’s Club, which open in 1998, provides support to anyone touched by cancer at no cost.

"This is a really important and inspiring event for us each year," said Laura Varon Brown, executive director. "We love to carry on the legacy of Jill, who was one of our members. For us to provide this day of wellness and pampering, it's really a special day."
