Man Hit, Killed By Train In Oakland County: Police

Police said the man ignored the crossing signals and "was attempting to hurry across the tracks as the train approached."

ROYAL OAK, MI — A man was struck and killed by an Amtrak train Saturday morning in Oakland County, according to police.

The 44-year-old Pontiac man was struck by the Amtrak train at 9:17 a.m. Saturday morning in the area of 6th and Center streets in Royal Oak, according to police.

Police said the man ignored the crossing signals and "was attempting to hurry across the tracks as the train approached."

Officials took the Pontiac man to a nearby hospital where he died, according to police.

Investigators do not believe drugs or alcohol played a role in the incident.
