New Bookstore To Open In Downtown Royal Oak

Downtown Royal Oak will have its first book store since the closing of Barnes & Noble in 2014.

ROYAL OAK, MI — Every industry has its pundits, and books are no exception. Some of the so-called book experts point to the growth in e-books over the last decade to forecast the demise of old fashioned printed books. Dave and Scott Brown beg to differ.

In fact, the brothers are banking on the idea that people, even younger readers, still enjoy holding a reading device that doesn’t require a battery. Next week, the brothers Brown will open Paper Trail Books at 414 S. Washington, according to a Royal Oak Daily Tribune report.

“A couple of years ago my brother had moved back to Michigan,” Dave Brown said, adding he eventually asked Scott if he recalled their talks of opening a store one day. “I told him, Let’s do it.”
“The bookstore will have a grand opening at noon next Wednesday, but Brown said he and his brother expect to open the doors to the public a day or two earlier.”
