November Open House at Orson Starr House Museum
The house will be open to visitors from 1-4 p.m on Nov. 10.

The Orson Starr House Guild invites the public to meet Mr. and Mrs. Orson Starr Sunday, Nov. 10.
Starr came to Royal Oak Township in 1831 and stayed until his death in 1873. He was the first manufacturer in the township making animal bells in eight sizes. His first house was a log cabin and his second house was a white clapboard built in 1845 and is still standing.
The house will be open to visitors from 1-4 p.m.
A program beginning at 2 p.m. will include a short talk, “What You Can Learn From a Photograph," given by Cindy Motzenbecker, president of the Michigan Historic Photograph Society. A poem written by Orson’s granddaughter will be read. A play celebrating Orson’s 50th birthday will be performed.
Tours of the house will be given before and after the program.
The Guild is seeking Starr family descendants. Please call: 248-546-0138 to list your name.
