OAKLAND COUNTY, MI — Road officials will hold an open meeting in February to discuss the upcoming two-year Interstate 696 project in Oakland County.
The public meeting will take place on Tuesday, Feb. 4 from 5 to 7 p.m. at Temple Emanu-El at 14450 W. 10 Mile Road in Oak Park.
The meeting will include community stakeholders, city representatives, local businesses, residents and Michigan Department of Transportation Representatives.

Starting March 1, eastbound Interstate 696 between Lahser Road and Interstate 75 will completely close for road repairs, according to officials.
Officials say the eight-mile stretch of the highway that runs through multiple Oakland County communities, including Ferndale, Hazel Park, Royal Oak and Southfield is in rough shape and needs repairs.

The road work is the final part of a $275 million project to rebuild the freeway, according to officials.
