Police Capture Royal Oak Home Invasion Suspects
Police nab three suspects in the armed robbery and home invasion of an elderly couple.

Three suspects in an armed robbery and home invasion remain in police custody following break-in early Tuesday morning. At 12:47 a.m. on Feb. 27, a woman called 911 to report that two suspects had forced their way into her home on the 2300 block of Elmhurst, robbing her and her husband, both seniors, at gunpoint. During the robbery, one male suspect slightly injured the woman’s husband, shoving him to the floor. Officers arrived and began to search for suspects, broadcasting their description and bringing in a K-9 unit to assist.
A Pleasant Ridge officer who’d heard these descriptions on his radio stopped a vehicle whose occupants resembled the suspects heading southbound on Woodward. The driver of the car, not present during the robbery itself, was later determined to be the victims’ granddaughter, police said in a statement. The Pleasant Ridge officer arrested all three, and they remain in custody awaiting arraignment on charges of home invasion and armed robbery.
“These arrests are another great example of the teamwork and cooperation of the law enforcement agencies in our area,” said Royal Oak Chief of Police Corrigan O’Donohue in a statement. “This same Pleasant Ridge officer who located our suspect vehicle also assisted us earlier in the evening with locating a runaway juvenile,” he added.
