Royal Oak Couple Robbed At Gunpoint

A suspect robbed a Royal Oak couple early Sunday and made away a wallet, keys, phones, and jewelry.

ROYAL OAK, MI — A Royal Oak couple was robbed at gunpoint in their driveway in the 600 block of S. Edgeworth early Sunday morning. The couple was loading luggage into their vehicle at about 7:05 a.m. when a suspect described as a thin black male approached them, showed a handgun and demanded they surrender valuables to him, according to a Royal Oak police report.

The couple complied and were unharmed in the incident. Police said the suspect fled to a waiting vehicle with the victims’ wallet, keys, phones, and jewelry. Officers quickly responded to the area and began checking for the suspects.

The victims reported the suspects were last seen fleeing the area in a silver four-door sedan. The suspect, who was armed with a black semi-automatic handgun, is described as being in his 20’s, clean shaven, wearing a gray sweatshirt and sweatpants. The suspect vehicle is described as a newer silver Chevrolet Malibu or Impala, driven by another black male suspect.

Royal Oak officers canvassed the area for the suspects and determined the vehicle fled the area in the direction of I-75. The Royal Oak Police Department is investigating the incident and asks that anyone with information contact Lieutenant Keith Spencer in the Criminal Investigation Division at (248) 246-3456.
