Royal Oak Police Department Hosting Career Event For Women

The Royal Oak Police Department is showing local women why a career in law enforcement could be for them.

ROYAL OAK -- The Royal Oak Police Department will be hosting an information session on law enforcement career opportunities for women at 6:00 p.m., February 27 at the Royal Oak Police Station, 221 E. Third Street. Sgt. Karly Renaud, Officer Cathy Szydlowski, Officer Katelyn Smaltz and Officer Kristen Karr will share their experience as police officers and answer questions.

Pre-registration is open to any woman, aged 16 or older, who is curious about a career in law enforcement. Admission is free and food and beverages will be provided.

“Our female officers have varied backgrounds. Their contributions and skills bring something unique and valuable to our department,” said Chief Corrigan O’Donohue. “This is a fantastic opportunity for young women looking for a challenging and rewarding career to spend time and ask questions of our officers.”
