Teen Steals $100K In Weed Products From Oakland Co. Dispensary: Police

Police said the teen smashed a window and ransacked​ the building, taking more than $100,000 marijuana and cannabis-related products.

ROYAL OAK, MI — A teen was arrested in connection with two break-ins, including one at a Royal Oak dispensary early Saturday morning, according to police.

The theft happened at the Gatsby Cannabis Company on Meijer Drive, near 14 Mile and Coolidge, at 2 a.m. Saturday morning, according to police.

Police said the 15-year-old Royal Oak boy smashed a window and ransacked the building, taking more than $100,000 marijuana and cannabis-related products.

Investigators found the stolen marijuana and cannabis-related merchandise at the teen's home while executing a search warrant, according to police.

The teen is also suspected of speeding away from a Royal Oak officer prior to the cannabis store burglary, according to police.

The teen was arrested in connection with the burglary and charged with breaking and entering a business and third-degree fleeing and eluding. He was placed at the Oakland County's Children's Village.

If convicted on the breaking and entering charge, he faces up to 10 years in prison and an additional five years if convicted on the third-degree fleeing and eluding charge.

Investigators also believe the teen broke into a home on the 800 block of McLean on July 26, according to police.

No charges in connection to the home invasion were immediately released.

Officials did not identify the teen.

"Our investigators quickly identified the suspect in this case and worked as a team to safely arrest this juvenile suspect and recover an astounding amount of evidence," Royal Oak Police Chief Michael Moore said.
