Police Report: Reports of Thefts from Vehicles

The following reports are from Saline Police Department records dated May 7-10. Arrests do not indicate convictions.

are investigating several thefts from vehicles from a neighborhood overnight on May 8 and 9.

A Tower Street man said someone went through his pickup truck May 8. A Nichols street woman told police that someone took a makeup bag and about $26 in loose cash. Another Nichols Street resident reported that lighters were taken from a van and a car.

Police are investigating threatening texts sent to a 13-year-old Saline girl May 9.

According to the report, the sender of the text conveyed knowledge of the girl’s location and threatened to go inside her house and “get her.”

Man Ticketed for Expired Plate

A 19-year-old Saline man was ticked for driving with an expired plate. At 1:32 a.m. May 9, police spotted a westbound vehicle on Michigan Avenue near Maple Road. The driver pulled into a driveway of a residence and sat there with his headlights on.  Police turned around, activated the patrol car's emergency lights and approached the vehicle, according to the report. The driver refused the officer’s request for a license, insurance and registration, according to the report. The driver was handcuffed and placed in the police cruiser, according tot he report, before eventually providing registration and insurance information. He was ticketed for an improper plate and released.

Wandering Dog Picked Up On Monroe Street

A Saline Township woman found a dog wandering in the road on Monroe Street near Henry Street, at 9:52 May 10.

The black and white male Shih Tzu/Lhasa Apso mix was found with no collar. The woman brought the dog to the Saline Police Department kennel, where it was provided with fresh water and food.
