Police Report: Woman Wanted on Warrants Found Hiding in Home

A 32-year-old Saline woman was arrested in her McKay Street home on six outstanding warrants May 23. Police received information that the woman was wanted on six warrants and went to her home. Police saw the woman come down the stairs of her home and ordered her to come to the front door but instead she went back upstairs, according to the report. Another officer went to the backdoor, found it open, and went inside. Police found the woman hiding upstairs and took her into custody. She was unable to post the total bond of $4,130 and was lodged in the Washtenaw County Jail, according to the report.

Expired plates stop leads to ticket

A 27-year-old Clinton man was ticketed for driving without a registration and insurance May 23. Saline Police stopped a Pontiac Firebird for expired plates at Michigan Avenue and Lewis Street at about 10 a.m. The driver could not produce registration and valid insurance and was cited, according to the report. A large machete located in the rear trunk of the vehicle was confiscated and placed in evidence, according to the report. The vehicle was impounded by America 1 Towing.

No-trespass order violated

A former Saline resident, now living in Detroit, was arrested for violating a no-trespass order May 24 according to police. Police were called to the Saline District Library about 8 p.m. when personnel complained the 17-year-old boy, who’d trespassed at the library four times in the last six months, according to police, was sitting on the hood of a car parked in the back lot. He was arrested and taken to the police department for processing, according to the report. He was ticketed and then released to the custody of Washtenaw County Sheriff’s Department deputies, who picked him up from holding and took him to the county jail on a state-wide pickup warrant, according to the report.

Car driven by teen without license impounded

An 18-year-old Detroit man had his car impounded May 24. Saline Police were at the library investigating the trespassing complaint, according to police.  The alleged trespasser was in a vehicle driven by an 18-year-old Detroit man with a temporary instruction permit, who admitted to Saline Police that he drove his vehicle from Detroit to Saline illegally, according to police. The man told police he had a grandfather in Saline and that the grandfather would drive him back to Detroit, police reported. Police gave the man time to locate his grandfather. Instead, the teen asked a man on Watson Street to pose as his grandfather, according to police. That man told police about the inquiry. Police impounded the 1993 Toyota Tercel because the man was driving without a license and because there was no licensed driver to take the car, according to the report. He was given a verbal warning for driving without a license.

Driving with suspended license

A 55-year-ol Saline woman was ticketed for driving with a suspended license May 24. Police spotted her driving on Tower Street, had prior knowledge that her license was suspended, and pulled her over, according to the report. She was issued a ticket and police confiscated and destroyed her license plate.

License plate theft

An Ann Arbor woman reported that someone stole the license plate of off her 2002 Saturn SL1 while it was parked in the Saline Automotive Parking Lot, 211 W. Michigan Ave., on May 23.

Man picked up on outstanding warrant

A 19-year-old Ypsilanti man working in a downtown Saline restaurant was arrested on outstanding felony arrest warrant from the Michigan State Police post in Brighton at 2 p.m. May 19. Police contacted the restaurant manager to bring the man from the restaurant and he was arrested without incident outside, according to the report.

Thefts from Dollar General

The assistant manager of Dollar General told Saline Police that four teenage boys came into the store May 19 and stole some “high bounce” balls. She told police that the boys, ages 14-15) were being disruptive, according to the report. When they left the store, the assistant manager noticed their pockets were stuffed, according to the report. She then noticed balls missing from the area where they had been. Police were unable to locate the boys during a search of the area, according to the report.

Items stolen from garage

A Castlebury Circle man told police that someone entered his garage and stole several items overnight, May 19-20. The man reported that two sets of golf clubs and an iPod converter and cell phone charger were taken, according to the report. He told police that he believes the theft took place about 2 a.m., when his dog “went crazy” and began barking.
