Saline High School Student Medvec Takes 12th at FFA National Event
Medvec's agricultural science research project compared conventional fertilizer and natural fertilizer in the growth rate of tomato plants.

Evan Medvec, a senior at Saline High School, won 12th place out of 450 entries and National Silver Award in the Botany Senior Division at the Future Farmers of America National AgriScience Fair held in Indianapolis, Ind., Oct. 18-22.
His agricultural science research project compared conventional fertilizer against natural fertilizer on growth rates of tomato plants.
Medvec developed the natural fertilizer from a worm tea he extracted using vermiculture to compost garden scraps, kitchen scrapings and recycled shredded paper.

His project placed first in Michigan in the Botany Senior Division this summer in the Arthur Berkey State Ag Science Fair held at AgExpo on the campus of Michigan State University.
