Saline Twirlettes to Perform at Thursday Send Off

The Saline Twirlettes perform at Washtenaw Christian Academy Thursday night prior to leaving for a national competition in South Bend.

The community is giving the Saline Twirlettes a big send off at Thursday night. And in return, the Saline Twirlettes will put on a free performance. The event begins at 7 p.m.

The Saline Twirlettes, 12-time Grand National Champions at the America’s Youth On Parade activities, are aiming at a 13th title in South Bend, Ind., in a week long competition that begins Sunday.

“You will be the first to debut the collegiate routines, down-the-field routines, show routines, solos and duets for the national quest,” said head coach Susan Usher, of the people who attend Thursday’s send off. “The team has been working hard all summer and are days away from their competition.”

The Saline 24-member team features three twirlers from the University of Michigan, two from Eastern Michigan University, and one each from Western Michigan University and Virginia Tech University.

The trip has been helped by several fundraising events, including the One Week Boutique consignment sale, a car wash and raffles.
