Saline Volleyball Players Recognized For Athletic, Academic Excellence
The Lady Hornets finished had a 3.73 grade point average.
Many of varsity volleyball players have received awards since the team closed out its 2011 season.
The Hornets finished the record with a 37-16-3 record and went 8-2 in the SEC Red, to finish second behind the Bedford Kicking Mules. Bedford also ended Saline's post season in district play at Bedford High School.
If there's one place the Hornets performed better than on the volleyball court, it was in the classroom, where Saline had a 3.73 grade point average. The Lady Hornets received the Michigan Volleyball Coaches Association Team Academic All State Award for its excellence in the classroom.

Seniors Marissa Owen and Mackenzie Schumborg both earned MIVCA Scholar Athlete Awards.
Owen was named Class A first-team All Region in the setter position. Junior Mackenzie Shand was Class A first-time All Region at the middle hitter position.

Shand and Owen were both named to the All SEC Red first team.
Receiving All SEC Red honorable mention were junior Natalie Sheridan, libero; sophomore Ani Agbabian, outside hitter; and sophomore Jess Wolma, middle hitter.
Schumborg received the SEC Sportsmanship Award.
Seniors Jessi Markey, Owen and Schumborg received recognition as SEC Scholar Athletes.
