Vigil for Homeless Set to Be Evicted from Tent City
Faith-based communities of Washtenaw County are holding a prayer vigil for residents of Camp Take Notice at 7:30 p.m., June 14.

A prayer vigil is being held at 7:30 p.m., June 14, at St. Mary Student Parish in Ann Arbor for the homeless people who are threatened with eviction from Camp Take Notice.
The vigil, sponsored by faith-based communities of Washtenaw County, is being he;d in hopes of stopping the eviction, starting a community discussion, and acknowledging the God-given dignity of all people, including the homeless, according to organizers of the vigil.
Camp Take Notice, located in Scio Township off of Wagner Road near M-14, has been credited for providing temporary emergency shelter for the homeless without using tax dollars. It is home to 65 residents.

According to AnnArbor.com, the Michigan Department of Transportation, which owns the property, has instructed residents to leave its property by June 22 or face arrest for trespassing. MDOT officials told AnnArbor.com that they are working to help find homes for the residents.
Camp Take Notice supporters are asking people to sign an Internet petition in support of the camp and its longterm goal to find a home along the Ann Arbor Transit Authority bus line.
