12 People Arrested In Macomb Co. Human Trafficking Operation​: Sheriff

Officials raided two so-called spas and three homes Wednesday​, arresting 12 people in total, according to the sheriff's office.

MACOMB COUNTY, MI — Multiple people were arrested in connection with a human trafficking operation in Macomb County on Wednesday, according to the Macomb County Sheriff's Office.

The Macomb County Sheriff’s Department, along with the FBI and United States Customs and Border Patrol, raided two so-called spas and three homes Wednesday, arresting 12 people in total, according to the sheriff's office.

The first search warrant was executed at the 25 Health Spa at 54798 Shelby Road in Shelby Township), followed by the Healing Plus Spa at 39573 Mound Road in Sterling Heights, according to the sheriff's office.

Officials also raided three homes in Macomb, Shelby townships and Warren in connection with the human trafficking operation, according to the sheriff's office.

  • 54-year-old woman from Macomb Township
  • 48-year-old man from Macomb Township
  • 50-year-old man from Shelby Township
  • 49-year-old woman from Shelby Township
  • 61-year-old woman from Eastpointe
  • 64-year-old woman from Shelby Township

United States Customs and Border Patrol arrested five men and a woman for illegal immigration status, according to the sheriff's office.

Officials also confiscated $25,361 in cash, high end jewelry and a small amount of cocaine in the raids, according to the sheriff's office.

"I commend the outstanding efforts of the SET Team, Sterling Heights PD, Border Patrol and the FBI," Macomb County Sheriff Anthony Wickersham said. "Their collaborative efforts and effective work concluded in the arrests of human traffickers in Macomb County."

Police were still investigating the incident.
