2 Women Killed In Macomb County Crash: Police

SHELBY TOWNSHIP, MI — Two elderly women were killed in a Thursday crash in Shelby Township, according to police.
Police said a 33-year-old man was driving south on Michigan 53 near 22 Mile Road at 12:50 p.m. when he smashed into the back of multiple vehicles near the construction zone.
An 88-year-old woman and a 63-year-old woman were killed in the crash, according to police.

Police said they are not releasing the names of the victims.

The man was taken to a nearby hospital and is expected to be charged with two counts of a moving violation causing death, according to police.
Michigan 53 near the crash scene was closed for hours while police investigated.
