5 Students Awarded Lions Club Scholarship

The Shelby Township Lions Club is helping five of Shelby Township’s brightest and best students get through their first year of school with a $1,000 scholarship.

Because of tough economic times, the Lions Club has awarded five students with the scholarship, rather than the usual four recipients.

The recipients are as follows:

Loren Patrick Lacey: Graduate of Utica High School with a 3.18 GPA, and will be attending U of D Mercy to be a dentist.

Ryan T. Brunk: Graduate of Eisenhower High School with a 4.06 GPA and will be attending Michigan State University to become a physician.

Allison Riley: Graduate of Eisenhower High School with a GPA of 3.30 and will be attending Michigan State University to become a physician's assistant or physician.

Gina Cherniawski: Graduate of Eisenhower High School with a GPA of 3.96 and will be attending Michigan State University to obtain a career in the medical field.

Sarah Dembeck: graduate of Utica High School with a GPA of 3.01 and will be attending Western Michigan University to become an occupational therapist.
