STERLING HEIGHTS, MI — A second 270-degree screen is coming to a metro Detroit theater this month.

The MJR Marketplace Cinema in Sterling Heights is getting the CJ 4DPLEX ScreenX for the Nov. 22 releases of "Wicked" and "Gladiator II."

The first ScreenX opened at MJR Waterford earlier this year with the release of "Twisters."

"We are thrilled to expand the innovative ScreenX format to our Sterling Heights location this November," Vice President of Operations for MJR Theatres Joel Kincaid said. "Our launch of Michigan’s first ScreenX at our Waterford location this past July was met with resounding success, and the reaction from our guests have been overwhelmingly positive. We are excited to expand this concept to the east side and very likely more locations in the coming years."

ScreenX extends screens onto the side walls of the auditorium, creating a 270-degree panoramic, ultra-widescreen view of the action. It was introduced in 2012 and is used on nearly 400 screens in 43 countries.
