No Charges For Shelby Township Officers In Shooting That Injured Man
Police said the man called 911 and demanded officers to come kill him after he stabbed his mother in Shelby Township.
SHELBY TOWNSHIP, MI — Officers who shot a man during a domestic stabbing incident in Shelby Township earlier this month will not be punished, according to the Macomb County Sheriff's Office.
Miles Farish, 30, stabbed his mother multiple times on the morning of Jan. 9 at the Shelby Oaks Apartment Complex before he called 911 and demanded officers to come kill him, police said.
Officers found Farish walking in the area of Utica Green and West Road at 6:37 a.m. on Jan. 9, police said.

Farish, who was still armed with a knife, confronted the officers and refused their orders to drop the knife, police said.
As Farish moved toward the officers, refusing their commands, one officer tried using a taser on him twice before other officers opened fire, striking Farish multiple times, police said.

Officers immediately called for medical aid and applied pressure to Farish's wounds, before he was taken to Beaumont Hospital in Troy, where he was listed in stable condition, police said.
"When you look at policy, when you look at applicable state law, these officers, this is a textbook situation," Macomb County Sheriff Anthony Wickersham said at a Wednesday news conference. "He wasn’t going to stop unless something was done. They used great restraints and followed their training."
Farish was charged with assault with intent to murder in connection with the stabbing. He is now also charged with three counts of assault with a dangerous weapon and three counts of assault/resisting/obstructing a police officer.
He was arraigned from his bed and assigned a $2 million cash bond. His next court date was set for Jan. 25.
Police said Farish’s mother survived the stabbing attack. No other details were shared about her condition.
Investigators determined the shooting the justified and no charges will be brought against the officers who shot Farish. The officers have been evaluated and cleared to return to work on Friday, police said.
