Oakland County Man Killed In Police Shooting: Cops
Police said the man pulled out a gun while fleeing a traffic stop.
SHELBY TOWNSHIP, MI — A man was killed in a police shooting Tuesday in Shelby Township, police said.
Police said an officer stopped a white Caravan in the area of Van Dyke Avenue and 22 Mile Road at 3:17 p.m. Tuesday. During the traffic stop, police said the 41-year-old Troy man exited the Caravan and fled south on foot.
The officer chased the man to a spot behind several businesses in the area, police said.

The officer told the man to stop numerous times before pulling out his taser, police said.
The man ignored the officer and eventually pulled out a gun, police said.

The officer told the man several times to drop the gun before he fired and struck the 41-year-old man, police said.
The man was taken to a nearby hospital where he died, police said.
Police have identified the man, but have not released his name to the public.
Police did not immediately say why the officer stopped the Caravan or how many shots were fired in the incident.
Per the department's policy, the officer has been placed on administrative leave.
Police said the Macomb County Sheriff's Office will take over the investigation.
