Shelby Twp. Police Shoot, Injure Armed Man Who Charged Officers: Cops

There were no other injuries in the shooting and there is no further threat to the community, police said.

SHELBY TOWNSHIP, MI — An armed man was shot by police Tuesday morning in Shelby Township after charging officers, according to police.

Officers went to the Shelby Oaks Apartments near West Utica and Mound roads at 6:23 a.m. on reports that someone was stabbed at the complex, police said.

When officers arrived at the complex, the man was holding a knife and refused officers' commands to drop the knife, police said.

The man then charged officers who opened fire, striking the man, police said.

The man was taken to a nearby hospital where he was treated for his injuries, police said.

The Macomb County Sheriff's Office is still investigating the shooting.
