Crissman On High Alert after Stranger Danger

School administrators and parents at are on high alert after a stranger approached two young children nearby in two separate incidents.

Crissman Elementary School Principal Renee Fiema said the school has briefed the children on what to do if they are approached, it has refreshed recess supervisors on safety protocol and the PTA may be providing additional presence on school grounds for a while.

In a letter home to parents, Fiema said the school is working closer with Shelby Township police, who have already stepped up patrol in the area of 24 Mile Road and Van Dyke Avenue.

Police said on two separate occasions a man approached two children and offered to give them a ride home.  

In both cases, the children ran from the man and later reported the incident to their parents.

The man was driving a small, black SUV—make and model are unknown—with tinted windows and spinner rims, police said.

Police described the man as being Hispanic, in his mid-30s, tall and stocky, with dark hair, bangs and a mustache. He also has a dragon tattoo on his right arm.
