Teen, 17, Charged In Fatal Shelby Township Crash
Prosecutors said the teen was driving drunk and reached speeds up to 90 miles per hour on Jan. 7 when he slammed into another vehicle.
SHELBY TOWNSHIP, MI — A teen was charged in connection with a fatal Shelby Township crash last week, according to the Macomb County Prosecutor's Office.
The teen, whose name has not been released, was charged with second-degree murder. His bond was set at $250,000. If he is released from jail, he must have alcohol and drug testing seven times a month and use an alcohol tether.
His next court date is set for March 7.

Prosecutors said the teen was driving drunk and reached speeds up to 90 miles per hour on Jan. 7 when he struck a vehicle in the area of 21 Mile and Hayes Roads, killing 26-year-old Austin "AJ" Southwell.
"Our pursuit of justice is unwavering," Macomb County Prosecutor Peter Lucido said. "In the face of profound loss, we stand committed to holding this individual accountable for his choices and ensuring that the legal process unfolds with diligence and fairness."
