UCS Sees Slight Increase in Students' MEAP Scores

The overall figures show between 80 and 90 percent of students meeting or exceeding the standard test scores for most subjects—which are math, reading and for some grades, social studies and science.

Utica Community Schools students scored slightly better in 2010 on the Michigan Department of Education's MEAP tests than in 2009.

The standardized test is given as a measure of the level of student learning, and the state released the fall 2010 test results Thursday.

An initial review of the 2010 MEAP figures for UCS schools shows students in grades 3-9 performed a little better than in 2009, with some slight increases in the number of students getting advanced scores.
