With a new scrap metal recycling company in town, Shelby Township residents who want to earn a little cash while getting rid of a junk car or an old refigerator, won't have to go far.
The Sterling Heights Regional Chamber of Commerce held a ribbon cutting Wednesday at Fritz Enterprises Inc.'s newest Michigan location on 22 Mile Road, near Ryan Road, to kick off the company's grand opening.
The Trenton-based metal recycling company has expanded it's business in Shelby on 3.3 acres of land, where it collects scrap metal from the public and commercial businesses.
Fritz Enterprises is one of Michigan’s largest processors of secondary metals and related recyclable materials, with nine plants in Michigan and several more nationwide. The company packages up the used metal from the various locations and shreds automobiles it at facilities in Flint and Taylor, and operates a recycling center in Detroit.

The Shelby Township facility is located at 4735, 22 Mile Road. Items accepted at the recycling center are scrap steel, computers, automobile and auto batteries, plastics and ferrous and non-ferrous metal.
