Coast Guard Searches For Man In Lake St. Clair
A 44-year-old man fell into Lake St. Clair Friday evening and didn't resurface.

MACOMB COUNTY, MI — The Coast Guard and local agencies are searching for a 44-year-old man who fell into Lake St. Clair Friday evening. The Coast Guard received a report of a man falling off of a 27-foot powerboat near Metro Beach in Harrison Township.
The man was wearing a red life jacket, but it was not properly buckled and came off as he hit the surface of the water, the Coast Guard said in a news release. A Watchstander in the Coast Guard command center diverted a crew aboard a 25-foot response boat from Coast Guard Station St. Clair Shores and launched a helicopter from Coast Guard Air Station Detroit to search for the man.

Local agencies also responded, augmenting a coordinated search that continued throughout the night. A Macomb County dive team was also on scene using a side-scanning sonar system to search beneath the surface of the water.
A Coast Guard response boat and helicopter continue to search the area using the daylight visibility to maximize any opportunity to locate the man. Personnel from the Coast Guard Auxiliary, Macomb County Police and a Macomb County helicopter are also involved in the search. The Macomb County dive team will be on scene again as well Saturday.
