The deputy was traveling southbound on Van Dyke when a Sterling Heights woman, who was in a 2010 Ford Edge, drove through a red light heading westbound on 29 Mile Road and struck him, an earlier news release stated. Police said neither the woman or a passenger in the Ford were hurt.
The 27-year-old Sterling Heights woman registered a .12 blood alcohol level after a breath test, according to the Sheriff’s Office. Michigan’s legal blood alcohol limit is .08.
