Macomb Co. Man Rolls SUV While Speeding Away From Police: Sheriff

The man was injured in the crash and taken to a nearby hospital for his injuries, according to the sheriff's office.​​​​

HARRISON TOWNSHIP, MI — A man was injured in a rollover crash while speeding away from police early Wednesday morning in Macomb County, according to the Macomb County Sheriff's Office.

Officers initially responded to an altercation between two neighbors in Harrison Township at 3 a.m. Wednesday morning, according to the sheriff's office.

A woman told officers that her neighbor, a 58-year-old man, was "causing a disturbance," according to the sheriff's office.

Officers have previously met with the 58-year-old Harrison Township man and were aware of his outstanding felony warrants, according to the sheriff's office.

Shortly later, officers saw the man driving in a GMC Yukon on Joy Boulevard in Harrison Township, according to the sheriff's office.

Officers activated their lights and sirens, but the man ignored them and sped away from officers, according to the sheriff's office.

The man then lost control of the SUV, left the roadway and went into a ditch, according to the sheriff's office.

The man was able to get the SUV back on the road and began speeding in the opposite direction, according to the sheriff's office.

Officers briefly lost sight of the SUV while turning around, but ultimately found it again when the man lost control again and rolled over, according to the sheriff's office.

The man was injured in the crash and taken to a nearby hospital for his injuries, according to the sheriff's office.

Officials did not say how serious his injuries were.

Officials do believe alcohol played a factor in the crash.

Officials did not identify the man or say what charges he may face in connection with the incident.
